Maria Sjödin

"I've always enjoyed creating clothing - shaping a material to a body, sketching different designs and finding a balance. I'm inspired by people - and of course by beautiful fabrics.
The Casual Priest collection is an inspiring project. I believe it's important for women priests to be able to be themselves and bring their femininity into the Church, to a job which has been traditionally patriarchal.
What my collections have in common is a simplicity and purity of style and a certain sensualism. The material is mainly silk, but also other natural fabrics such as wool and cotton. It's my hope that people feel both beautiful and comfortable in Maria Sjödin creations."

The Maria Sjödin company has existed since fall 1995 and in 2004 she opened her own studio and shop in Midsommarkransen, Stockholm.
